Chartham Neighbourhood Plan Email Update June 2025

Chartham Neighbourhood Plan
Email Update – June 2025
All systems go!
The evidence base is complete and the draft Chartham Neighbourhood Plan was presented to the Parish Council on 10th May. We're thrilled to share that it’s been approved to progress to the Regulation 14 Consultation stage.
This is where you come in:
A flyer will be sent to every household on the electoral roll. It will include a link to the draft plan and supporting documents. Printed copies will also be available at the Parish Council Office (located at Chartham Village Hall) during the Clerk`s working hours as well as at the 4 drop in events. Local businesses and organisations will also be informed. This is your chance to see what’s proposed—and why!
We’re also holding four local drop-in sessions where you can talk with us directly: at Chartham Village Hall, Chartham Hatch Village Hall, St Augustine’s Sports Hall, and the Chartham Village Fete. Event details will be posted around the parish. This gives you an opportunity to ask questions face to face.
We really want to know: Does the plan reflect your priorities? Your feedback matters—and we’ll make it easy for you to share your thought. It is easier to do this via our website (insert link) but can also be completed via paper copy available at (XX). You must give your name and address in order for your comments to be taken account of. This is a requirement of regulation 14, the deadline for comments is the 12th September.
After the 6 week deadline for the consultation, the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group will have reviewed every comment and revised the draft accordingly.
The updated plan will then be submitted to Canterbury City Council for a compliance check against national and local planning policies.
Once that process is finalised, you’ll get to vote. If the majority says “yes,” the plan becomes a key document guiding future development in Chartham.
Please join us at the events to be informed so that you can let us know what you think. Every voice counts. If you are unable to attend, you can find all the necessary information and a way to comment on our website.
